Quietdrive live @ The BBY.
so i had seen these guys Quietdrive live before locally (they are from Minneapolis) but didn't remember much about them. so they were in the store today signing autographs and playing a short set. i didn't get to see most of it because i was still on the clock, but they sounded great! i figured though, that i could sneak over there for a bit if i were doing something work-related, and i had wanted to test the HD video on the new Canon in a real-world scenario and this seemed like a the perfect opportunity. so i started the video just before the next song and handed it off to a co-worker who was there to watch. it turned out to be a good choice, because the song they wound up playing was Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper. (i have always liked that song for some reason, maybe because one of my favorite movies growing up was The Goonies.) anyway, i got this video of the performance in glorious 720p! the most amazing part is just how clear the audio sounds! i couldn't believe it! amazing! (the band was pretty good too, i suppose. :P )

***Seriously don't even watch this in standard def. Click the HD button!!***

and if you're curious, the video was taken with this little compact camera!

HOLY SHIT MATT THAT'S TINY! i know right?! AND IT DOES 720p HD VIDEO?! it sure does! I WANT IT!! me too pal... me too... sadly i work in retail and can't even afford the meager $280 it costs. :(

me too! mine is a Canon from 2003! the Canon S410. so old it still uses compactflash cards! it's also impossible to take a picture with the flash off unless you're in direct sunlight or the camera auto-corrects the low-lighting with a slow shutter. blah! the pictures that DO turn out though, turn out AWESOME!!

i still really really want a new one! :P

Not bad for a small camera. Too bad I already have my heart set on something else... and it's 399 pounds, which I haven't converted to dollars because it will make me SAD. But this one, I will put it on my list!

DO IT! it's an awesome little pocket-sized camera! so what is it you have YOUR eye on??

PS: 399 pounds = $585 US dollars.

... siiiiigh. Sadness. Does the little canon shoot in RAW, too?

This is one I want: http://bit.ly/1pO6c
A little older but referred to me by a couple different people. :

sadly, no it does not. only the G-Series Canons do that.

The Panasonic LX3 is actually a pretty sweet camera. before Canon came out with the DIGIC4 photo processor i had my eye on the LX3's little brother, the TZ5. no M/A/S/P settings and it doesn't shoot in RAW, but it's still a hella-sweet camera. seriously, if you're looking for good manual control camera that shoots RAW i'd say stick with the LX3. Lumix cameras are fuckin' sweet.

(PS: panasonic's website has it listed at $499, and they have a link under their "shop online retailers" button to a place that has it for like $479.)

Didn't they do a song called "Rise from the Ashes" a while ago? Oh man, I've totally heard these guys. A couple years back, they had that song put on a Hot Topic sampler that they were giving away in stores, and I loved it hardcore. Interesting lyrics, but not overbearing, they're good instrumentally...I dig them. Haven't seen them live yet, though.

By the way, this little camera is the one I used to take these, these, and and these. Sometimes, little cameras pack quite the punch, photo-wise!

poloroids certainly aren't the most terrible el-cheapos. you can get some good pics in the sunlight, but i'm sure you've seen indoors it suffers. also if you look closely at your photos the depth of field could be better and there are some noise issues.

Haha wow. I was wondering why I've heard their name before! That Cyndi Lauper cover they did played on Blockbuster TV for the longest time and I loved it. That's amazing though, I'm totally buying that camamera (:

Wait... which model camera is that?? I want one... and I'm just reckless enough to go spend $280 on a credit card. That video quality is stunning.
